For the first time, India’s premier semi-high-speed train now reaches deep into the Valley, symbolising both technological triumph and political messaging.
Connecting New Delhi to Srinagar via Udhampur and Banihal, this sleek train cuts through some of India’s most difficult terrain, crossing iconic structures like the Chenab Bridge, the highest railway arch in the world. Beyond the engineering marvel, however, lies a deeper story of connection—between Kashmir and the rest of India.
For local residents, the Vande Bharat brings real promise. Farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs now have faster, more reliable ways to move goods. Students and patients can reach cities without depending solely on costly air travel. For the tourism sector—vital to Kashmir’s economy—the train offers a game-changing boost in accessibility.
