Crime Branch Jammu Files Chargesheet in Online Fraud Case; Two Arrested Jammu, September 29: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime Branch Jammu, arrested Doli Devi R/o Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh and Shashi Pal R/o Chamba, Himachal Pradesh and filed a chargesheet before the Ld. Court of 13 FC Jammu in FIR No. 61/2023 U/S 419, 420 and 120-B IPC. The case arose from a complaint by Bodh Raj, who was allegedly cheated through impersonation by a caller posing as his colleague and induced to transfer money through PhonePe on the pretext of his colleague’s son requiring urgent medical treatment. Investigation and financial tracking revealed the fraudulent funds were routed through accounts of Doli Devi and Shashi Pal, with multiple transactions between them. Further investigation linked the funds to Ashraful Alam of Assam, who allegedly withdrew the amount in cash. The Investigation led by Dy.SP Goldy Sharma established that Mohd Juber Alam allegedly impersonated himself as complainant’s colleague and made the fraudulent calls. Notices were served upon Mohd Juber Alam and Ashraful Alam, but both evaded investigation. The allegations against Doli Devi and Shashi Pal were substantiated on the basis of documentary, banking and electronic evidence, leading to filing of the chargesheet along with seized documents and list of witnesses.Crime Branch has also requested the Court to initiate proceedings U/S 512 Cr.PC against the absconding accused Mohd Juber Alam and Ashraful Alam. SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu has advised to remain vigilant against such economic frauds and report any such incident to Crime Branch EOW Jammu (Crime Branch, J&K).
