SANJY-2025: Traffic advisory issued for Jammu-Srinagar highway

Srinagar, Jul 01: Authorities have issued a traffic plan for the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) for July 2, in view of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025, subject to favorable weather and road conditions.

According to a statement issued, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), including passenger and private cars, will be permitted to travel in both directions — from Jammu to Srinagar and vice-versa — while Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will be allowed only on alternate days.

The statement also mentions the designated cut-off timings for LMVs: From Nagrota (Jammu) to Srinagar, vehicles will be allowed between 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM. From Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar, between 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from Qazigund to Jammu, between 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM.

For HMVs, movement from Jakheni (Udhampur) to Srinagar will be permitted only after assessing the condition of the highway. However, no HMV will be allowed to proceed after 7:00 PM. Coordination between TCU Udhampur and TCU Ramban will determine HMV movement.

Additionally, to facilitate the movement of vehicles transporting perishable items during the yatra period, the administration has directed that all petrol, diesel, LPG tankers; empty LPG cylinder carriers; FCI empty trucks; and other vehicles (up to 10-tyres, loaded or empty) must return to Jammu via the Mughal Road instead of NH-44.
