Jammu, Jun 27 : General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps (16 Corps), Lieutenant General P K Mishra, on Friday commended the armed forces deployed in Poonch and Rajouri for their determined and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the region.
The GOC undertook a visit to these forward areas ahead of the Amarnath Yatra 2025, scheduled to begin on July 3, to evaluate operational preparedness and security arrangements along the Line of Control (LoC).
During his visit to the Romeo Force Headquarters in Rajouri, Lt Gen Mishra acknowledged the professionalism, resilience, and dedication of the troops in maintaining a high state of alertness and readiness. He emphasized the necessity of maintaining full dominance over the operational area using advanced surveillance systems, swift response mechanisms, and close coordination with the J&K Police and paramilitary forces.
Amarnath Yatra Security Measures
The GOC reiterated the critical importance of securing the pilgrimage routes leading to the Amarnath shrine in south Kashmir, particularly through the Rajouri-Poonch axis, which is both strategically significant and susceptible to cross-border infiltration.
Operating under Operation Rakshak, the Romeo Force is responsible for securing vulnerable segments of the Yatra path, especially across the Pir Panjal Range, which connects Jammu with Kashmir Valley.
The review also concentrated on strengthening LoC defenses in the twin districts, known for frequent infiltration attempts. The GOC was briefed on the current security strategies, logistics, and communication setups being employed in the area.
Lt Gen Mishra commended the high morale and unwavering alertness of troops under tough operational conditions. He called on them to continue maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and remain prepared to neutralize any threat.
He emphasized that the Romeo Force’s proactive counter-insurgency efforts and round-the-clock vigilance play a vital role in upholding peace and stability in this sensitive border region. (KNO)
