LG Sinha expresses grief over loss of lives

Ramban, Jul 11: Four individuals lost their lives and two others sustained critical injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in the Ukhral Pogal Paristan area of Ramban district on Friday evening, officials said.

According to an official from the area, the incident took place on the Senabati link road near Madina Masjid hill, where a Tata Sumo skidded and rolled down nearly 600 feet into a gorge.

The official added that while four passengers died on the spot, the two injured were rushed to GMC Anantnag for treatment.

Deputy Commissioner Ramban, in a post on X, expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “District Administration Ramban expresses profound grief over the tragic loss of four precious lives in a road accident at Ukhral Senabathi. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families. We wish a swift recovery to the injured,” he said.

He further announced that financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh would be provided to each deceased’s family, while Rs 25,000 would be given to each injured person. The administration is ensuring all necessary support to the affected families, he added.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also conveyed his condolences. In a statement, he said, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the tragic road accident in Ramban. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased in this moment of grief. I also pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
