Kathua, June 21: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday said they arrested Roshan Din, a Head Constable from Police Station Kathua, who had been absconding in a bribery trap case.
According to an ACB statement, an FIR (No. 12/2025) under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, was filed at ACB Police Station Jammu against HC Roshan Din (No. 432/K). He was accused of demanding and accepting a bribe from a complainant in exchange for removing the latter’s name from the accused list in an FIR (No. 193/2025) registered at Kathua Police Station.
Despite the complainant submitting CCTV footage and factory attendance records to prove his innocence, the head constable allegedly demanded Rs 15,000 in bribe.
Upon receiving the money, he reportedly fled the scene after sensing the presence of ACB officials, discarding the tainted cash in nearby bushes along the national highway near Palli. The bribe money was later recovered from the bushes by independent witnesses and seized as evidence.
The ACB confirmed that Roshan Din was arrested on June 20, 2025, and further investigation into the case is ongoing.
