Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Namibia’s highest civilian honour, the ‘Order of the Most Ancient Welwitschia Mirabilis’, by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Wednesday.
The honour was bestowed during his visit to Namibia, which marks the final stop of his five-nation tour.
This is PM Modi’s first-ever visit to Namibia and only the third visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country. With this latest accolade, Modi has now received 27 international honours from foreign governments since assuming office in May 2014.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi held bilateral talks with President Nandi-Ndaitwah. The discussions culminated in the signing of four agreements aimed at enhancing cooperation in key sectors such as energy and healthcare.
