New Delhi, July 11: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the inaugural Governing Council meeting of the National Cadet Corps Alumni Association (NCCAA) at South Block, New Delhi. The association aims to unite former and current NCC cadets and encourage their contribution to the nation-building process through the values instilled during their time with the NCC—the world’s largest uniformed youth organization.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first registered member of the NCCAA, while Rajnath Singh is the second.
In his address, the Defence Minister lauded the NCC as a powerful platform for youth development and described its alumni as key contributors to India’s growth across various sectors. He emphasized the importance of leveraging their guidance to accelerate national progress and expressed confidence that the NCCAA would inject fresh energy and vision into the organization.
He urged the expansion of NCC values beyond the cadet corps through the concept of ‘NCC Plus’—ensuring even those who didn’t join the NCC benefit from its discipline, unity, and service-oriented spirit.
Rajnath Singh encouraged the NCCAA to actively participate in initiatives like ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, ‘Swachhta Abhiyan’, and other social and community service programmes, thereby reaching a larger section of society.
Praising the NCC’s role in shaping disciplined, motivated citizens, especially from remote regions, he reaffirmed its commitment to fostering national unity and development.
The meeting was attended by MP Manoj Tiwari, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Youth Affairs Secretary Dr. Pallavi Jain Govil, Additional Defence Secretary Smt. Dipti Mohil Chawla, Director General NCC Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, and other senior officials and stakeholders.
