Srinagar, July 11: On the ninth day of the annual Amarnath Yatra, 18,010 devotees visited the holy cave shrine, pushing the overall number of pilgrims who have performed darshan since July 3 to 1,63,726.
As per the data accessed by Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Friday’s visitors included 12,838 men, 4,343 women, 223 children, 141 sadhus, 8 sadhvis, and 2 transgender devotees. In addition, 455 security personnel also paid obeisance at the shrine.
Officials stated that the yatra continues under a robust security framework, with 24/7 surveillance, healthcare facilities, and emergency response teams deployed to ensure the safety and smooth movement of pilgrims.
To manage delays or disruptions, two major transit camps have been established at Mir Bazar and Walnut Factory Levdora (Qazigund), with a combined capacity to house 5,000 yatris—2,600 at Mir Bazar and 2,400 at Levdora. These camps provide essential shelter and logistical support along the Jammu–Srinagar route.
Meanwhile, another group of 6,482 pilgrims departed from Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar base camp early Friday morning, heading toward the twin base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam.
According to officials, 2,353 pilgrims opted for the Baltal route, while 4,129 chose the traditional Pahalgam path. The group traveled in 268 vehicles, including 135 buses, 49 medium motor vehicles (MMVs), and 84 light motor vehicles (LMVs), all under tight security arrangements.
