Hajj-2025: Final batch of J&K pilgrims returns home

3,606 performed Hajj this year

Srinagar, July 11: The Hajj 2025 pilgrimage for Jammu and Kashmir concluded on Friday with the return of the final group of pilgrims, officials confirmed.

Dr. Shujhat Qureshi, Executive Officer of the J&K Hajj Committee, said that a total of 3,606 pilgrims from J&K performed Hajj this year. “Today’s flight, carrying 160 pilgrims, was the last from India for this year’s pilgrimage,” he said.

Sadly, two pilgrims—a man and a woman, both from Srinagar passed away during the pilgrimage and were laid to rest in Makkah.

Regarding departure points, Dr. Qureshi noted that most pilgrims left from Srinagar Airport, while 480 boarded from Delhi, 10 from Mumbai, and 2 from Hyderabad. Additionally, 242 pilgrims from Ladakh were also facilitated via Srinagar.

Speaking about the overall experience, Dr. Qureshi said pilgrims expressed high satisfaction with the arrangements in Saudi Arabia, describing this year’s feedback as one of the best in recent years. However, there were some concerns related to airline services.

One pilgrim from J&K remains in Saudi Arabia under medical observation, and the Hajj Committee is in constant touch with the Consulate General of India (CGI) in Jeddah regarding the situation.

When asked about the fee structure for Hajj 2026, Dr. Qureshi clarified that no changes have been finalized yet, as the rates depend on the upcoming tender process. He added that 70% of pilgrims travel under the government-managed quota, while 30% go through private tour operators. The overall quota for India is expected to be announced by July 15—KNO
