Srinagar, Jun 27: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha praised the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for their outstanding dedication and service, especially during ‘Operation Sindoor’ following the Pahalgam terror attack. Speaking at a special national integration camp, LG Sinha said their selfless actions won the admiration of the entire nation.
He emphasized that the NCC’s role goes well beyond military training, serving as a platform for young people to grow into responsible and disciplined citizens. “The cadets are trained not just for uniformed service but also to contribute meaningfully to society,” LG Sinha stated, as reported by Kashmir News Observer (KNO).
Highlighting some notable accomplishments, he acknowledged Ekta Kumari from Jammu, who led the NCC parade at Republic Day on Kartavya Path in Delhi, calling it a proud moment for women empowerment. Similarly, Abida Afreen from Ladakh was lauded for scaling Mount Everest, a testament to the grit and courage nurtured through NCC training.
LG Sinha said NCC cadets rose to the occasion during crises such as Operation Sindoor, providing relief across border areas, and organizing blood donation drives. “Their actions have significantly raised the stature of the NCC,” he added.
He hailed NCC cadets as role models who reflect core values like discipline, unity, service, and national integration. “These cadets are shaping the future and carrying forward India’s civilizational values. They are also becoming the brand ambassadors of Jammu and Kashmir,” he noted.
Calling youth the drivers of change and the most valuable asset of any region, LG Sinha encouraged them to embody the values of ‘Nation First’ and take active part in the grassroots development process.
He stressed that the NCC serves as a bridge between the administration and young people’s aspirations and called for leveraging this network to promote greater youth engagement in nation-building.
He concluded by stating that India is on the path to becoming a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) and that the youth, especially NCC cadets, have a critical role in achieving that goal. “Let them pledge to dedicate their lives in service of the nation,” he said.
The event also featured colorful cultural performances showcasing India’s diversity. Around 340 NCC cadets and officers from across India are taking part in this camp.
The event was attended by senior military and civil officials, including GOC 15 Corps Lt. Gen. Prashant Srivastava, Additional Chief Secretary Shantmanu, ADG NCC Maj. Gen. Anupinder Bevli, Divisional Commissioner Vijay Bidhuri, Padma Shri Farooq Ahmed Mir, and other dignitaries.
