Srinagar, July 2: Following a temporary decline in operations due to the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year, air traffic at Srinagar International Airport witnessed a gradual but steady recovery throughout June 2025.
As reported by the news agency KNO, the airport saw a total of 1,537 flight movements—both arrivals and departures—during June, with 2,05,110 passengers traveling via the facility. The trend reflects a significant return to normalcy in airport operations.
The recovery unfolded progressively over the month. On June 1, only 36 flights operated, carrying 5,965 passengers. However, by June 28, the airport handled 60 flights with 10,331 passengers—the highest recorded for the month.
Other high-traffic days included: June 14: 58 flights, 10,147 passengers, June 21: 58 flights, 10,210 passengers, June 27: 48 flights, 10,454 passengers and June 30: 56 flights, 9,570 passengers.
An airport official told KNO that the figures indicate a growing sense of confidence among passengers and a return to routine flight operations. “We are seeing consistent improvement after the initial slump. This uptick is a result of coordinated efforts by all stakeholders to ensure hassle-free travel,” the official said.
The increase in air traffic has been supported by multiple factors, including the return of Hajj pilgrims, the onset of summer tourism, and the resumption of regular airline services. With the Amarnath Yatra now underway, airport authorities expect further rise in footfall in the coming weeks.
