Srinagar, Jul 01: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday issued clear directions to security agencies to reopen cases involving the killings of civilians by Pakistan-based terrorists and to identify those within the terror ecosystem who may still be operating from within government departments.
Chairing a high-level meeting in Srinagar, LG Sinha, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stressed the urgent need to revisit cases of common Kashmiris killed by Pakistan-sponsored terror groups. He instructed Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) to investigate cases that were earlier overlooked, file necessary FIRs, and ensure that jobs are provided to the next of kin (NoKs) of victims on a priority basis.
The Lieutenant Governor also called for immediate steps to reclaim properties and land that were forcibly taken from victim families by terrorists or their supporters.
Further, he directed officials to identify individuals who were part of the terror network responsible for civilian killings and are currently employed in government departments.
Emphasizing support to families of terror victims, LG Sinha said that those interested in starting their own ventures should be extended financial support through schemes like MUDRA and given proper handholding.
He announced the formation of a dedicated Special Cell at the LG Secretariat to exclusively address grievances of such families. A similar cell will also be established in the Chief Secretary’s office, along with a toll-free number to assist affected families.
“The administration is committed to ensuring justice for families affected by terrorism. No perpetrator should remain at large, and every effort will be made to deliver justice to the victims,” LG Sinha asserted.
The meeting was attended by top officials including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP Nalin Prabhat, senior police and civil administration officers, as well as heads of key departments.
