Kathua, May 29, 2026: The five-day Training and Sensitization Programme on Soil Health Management and Exotic Crop Cultivation, organized by Rapture Biotech, Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, concluded successfully today at the Industrial Biotech Park, Kathua.
The programme was conducted from 25th to 29th May, 2026 with the objective of enhancing farmers’ knowledge and skills in scientific soil management, integrated nutrient management, sustainable agriculture, and the cultivation of exotic vegetable crops for improved productivity and income generation.
The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Babita Rakwal, JKAS, Worthy Commissioner/Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, who emphasized the importance of science-driven agriculture, soil health conservation, innovation, and technology-led interventions for sustainable agricultural development and rural prosperity. She appreciated the efforts of JKSTIC and Rapture Biotech in organizing such capacity-building programmes for the farming community.
During the five-day programme, farmers from various villages of Kathua district actively participated in technical sessions, practical demonstrations, laboratory visits, and interactive discussions conducted by experts. The participants gained valuable insights into soil testing, soil fertility management, integrated nutrient management, organic farming practices, and the cultivation of high-value exotic vegetable crops.
Addressing the participants during the valedictory session, Ms. Ambika Slathia, Director, Rapture Biotech, J&K, appreciated the enthusiasm and active participation of the farmers throughout the programme. She emphasized the importance of adopting scientific farming practices, improving soil health, and utilizing scientific knowledge for achieving sustainable agricultural development and enhanced farm productivity.
As part of the valedictory ceremony, participation certificates were distributed among all trainees. Soil Health Cards were also provided to the participants to enable them to better understand the fertility status of their soils and make informed decisions regarding nutrient management. To promote organic and sustainable farming practices, each participant was provided with 5 kilograms of organic compost along with exotic vegetable seeds for cultivation and field-level demonstrations.
The participating farmers expressed their gratitude to JKSTIC, Department of Science and Technology, J&K, and Rapture Biotech for organizing such a useful and informative programme and appreciated the practical knowledge and hands-on experience gained during the training sessions.
The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of the Department of Science and Technology, J&K, JKSTIC, resource persons, organizing team, and participating farmers for making the programme a meaningful and successful initiative towards sustainable agriculture, improved soil health, and enhanced livelihood opportunities for farmers.
