New Delhi, Jun 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that modern India takes decisions firmly rooted in national interest, citing Operation Sindoor as a clear example of the country’s tough and uncompromising stance against terrorism.
Speaking at the centenary of a historic conversation between Sree Narayana Guru and Mahatma Gandhi, PM Modi said the world has witnessed India’s growing strength in its fight against terrorism. He declared that no safe haven would be spared for those responsible for spilling Indian blood, and that the recent operation demonstrated India’s capability, with enemy forces surrendering within just 22 minutes—using domestically produced weapons.
He added that India’s reliance on foreign arms is decreasing as the nation advances toward self-reliance in defense production. Modi expressed confidence that Indian-made weapons would soon gain international recognition.
From Compassion to Mission
Highlighting his government’s achievements, PM Modi reflected on the hardships faced by millions a decade ago—when many lived without homes, clean water, or basic healthcare. He said the government turned compassion into action, launching missions like PM Awas Yojana, which has provided permanent housing to millions of underprivileged families, including Dalits, tribals, and women.
Homes with Dignity and Basic Amenities
The Prime Minister emphasized that these homes are not just structures, but are equipped with gas, electricity, and sanitation—aimed at restoring dignity to the poor. Through the Jal Jeevan Mission, clean water is reaching even the remotest tribal areas, and initiatives like PM Janman Yojana are transforming the lives of marginalized communities.
Global Leadership and Sustainable Development
PM Modi noted that India is leading global efforts in sustainability, citing initiatives like One Earth, One Health, One Sun, One World, One Grid, and the G20 theme One Earth, One Family, One Future. He said these are rooted in the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’—the idea of the world as one family.
Women Empowerment in Every Sphere
Underscoring women’s empowerment, PM Modi said the government lifted restrictions that barred women from entering certain professions. Today, Indian women are excelling from sports to space. He credited Women-Led Development as a key driver of national progress.
He also mentioned campaigns like Swachh Bharat, environmental efforts, and Amrit Sarovar constructions, noting that these are powered by widespread public participation.
Education for All, in Every Language
PM Modi highlighted the new National Education Policy, which he said makes education more inclusive and accessible, especially by promoting learning in regional languages. He said this is particularly beneficial for marginalized groups.
He pointed out that more IITs, IIMs, and AIIMS have been set up in the last 10 years than in the previous 60, expanding access to higher education for disadvantaged youth.
Over 400 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have been established in tribal areas, giving tribal children access to education for the first time in generations. He noted that education has now been linked to skills and livelihood opportunities, with missions like Skill India helping the youth become self-reliant.
Inclusive Growth Through Reform
PM Modi concluded by saying that economic reforms and schemes like Mudra Yojana and Stand-Up India are creating opportunities for Dalits, backward classes, and tribal communities, helping them actively participate in the country’s development.
